AI Chat is the fastest way to get specific answers about a judge without manually navigating through their profile. You type a question in plain English and the AI returns a direct answer with citations to the underlying data.
Opening a chat session. Click AI Chat in the left sidebar, or press Cmd+K (Mac) / Ctrl+K (Windows) and select New AI Chat. You can also open chat directly from a judge profile by clicking the chat bubble icon — the judge's profile is automatically loaded as context, so your question is immediately grounded in their data.
Types of questions that work well. Specific, judge-focused questions produce the best results. For example: 'What is Judge Rivera's grant rate on motions to compel?' 'Does Judge Martinez prefer oral argument or is she likely to rule on the papers?' 'Has Judge Chen ever sanctioned counsel for a late IDC request?' The AI draws on tentative ruling text, structured statistics, and attorney observations.
Citations and verification. Every AI Chat response includes numbered citations. Click any citation to open the specific ruling, observation, or data point the AI referenced. This transparency lets you verify the AI's answer against the source before using it in your preparation.
Handling uncertain answers. If the AI does not have enough data to answer confidently, it will say so explicitly — for example, 'There are only 4 rulings on this motion type in our dataset for this judge, so I cannot give a confident answer.' The AI will not fabricate data to fill a gap.
Chat history. Every conversation is saved in the AI Chat panel under History. You can return to a previous session, continue the conversation, or share a link to a session with a colleague on a Firm plan.
Plan limits. Free users receive 10 messages per month. Pro users receive 200. Firm and Enterprise plans include unlimited AI Chat.
