The Morning Court Brief is a daily email that arrives in your inbox on mornings when you have hearings scheduled. It delivers a one-stop intelligence summary for every appearance so you walk into court fully prepared.
Enabling the brief. Go to Settings in the left sidebar, then click Notifications, then Morning Court Brief. Toggle the switch to On. A preview of the brief format appears immediately. The brief is included in all paid plans (Pro, Firm, Enterprise). Free users receive a limited version showing the judge's name and courthouse only.
What the brief contains. For each hearing scheduled that day, the brief includes: the judge's name, courthouse, and department; a plain-English summary of the judge's ruling tendencies for your specific motion type; the most recent tentative ruling posted by the court (or a note that none has been posted yet); three to five talking points derived from the judge's historical patterns; any flagged procedural risks; and a local rules summary for that department.
Customizing delivery time. The default delivery time is 6:00 AM Pacific. To change it, go to Settings, then Notifications, then Morning Court Brief, and use the time picker. The earliest available time is 5:00 AM and the latest is 8:00 AM. If a tentative ruling is posted after your brief has been sent, you will receive a separate Tentative Ruling Alert — make sure that alert type is enabled in your notification settings.
Team setup (Firm and Enterprise plans). From the Firm Settings page, you can configure the brief to send to every attorney in the organization based on their own individual hearing calendar. Each attorney receives a personalized brief, not a shared one. Individual attorneys can override the firm default delivery time from their own Settings page.
Troubleshooting. If you are not receiving the brief, check your spam folder for emails from brief@californiacourtintel.com. Verify that Morning Court Brief is toggled on in Settings and that each hearing has an assigned judge — briefs are only generated for hearings where a judge is linked. If the brief is generating but contains no content for a specific hearing, the judge profile may have very limited data; the brief will note this and include a shorter entry.
Accessing past briefs. Every brief sent is stored in your dashboard. Go to Hearings in the sidebar, then Morning Briefs to see all past and current-day briefs. This is useful if you missed the email or want to reference it from the courtroom via Court Mode.
