Upgrading your plan takes under two minutes and gives you immediate access to your new tier's features. There are no upgrade fees and billing is prorated automatically.
Step 1 — Go to billing settings. Navigate to Settings in the left sidebar and click Billing. You can also trigger an upgrade flow directly by clicking the Upgrade prompt that appears when you hit a plan limit (for example, when you try to save a 6th judge on a Free plan).
Step 2 — Select your new plan. The plan selection page shows all available tiers with a side-by-side feature comparison. Select the tier you want. If you are on Free, you can select Pro or Firm. If you are on Pro, you will see the Firm upgrade option.
Step 3 — Review prorated charges. CaliforniaCourtIntel calculates the prorated cost automatically. If you upgrade from Pro ($49/month) to Firm ($199/seat/month) on day 15 of a 30-day billing cycle, you pay approximately half a month of the Firm rate, minus a credit for the unused half of your Pro subscription. The exact amount is shown before you confirm — no surprises.
Step 4 — Confirm and pay. Your card on file is charged the prorated amount immediately. If no card is on file, you will be prompted to add one via the Stripe-hosted payment form. CaliforniaCourtIntel does not store your full card number.
Step 5 — Features are live immediately. You do not need to log out or refresh. New plan limits and features activate the moment the payment confirms. Your AI Chat, briefing, and prediction quotas are updated to your new plan's allocation at that instant.
Adding seats (Firm plan). Go to Settings, then Team, then Add Members. Enter the email address of each attorney you want to add. Each seat is billed at the per-seat rate and prorated to the current billing cycle. New members receive an invitation email and can activate their account within 7 days.
Switching to annual billing. On the plan selection page, toggle the billing interval to Annual to see the discounted annual rate. Switching to annual billing mid-cycle will calculate the credit remaining on your monthly plan and apply it to the annual payment.
